Key Hashes are responsible for authentication required by several 3rd party integrations to your app. We have 2 key hashes – one for development purpose and other for release purpose (Signed APK)

Generating Android debug/development key hash

Location of android debug keystore : for most of the  users the location would be

“C:\Users\computer name\.android”

In this folder you will find “debug.keystore”. This is your debug key. Default Password : “android”

Location of android release keystore: This is the keystore generated when build a signed apk.

For generating key hashes

Go to this location first in your computer – where java jdk is installed

“C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_121\bin”

In here press “Shift ” and right click of the mouse

Now click on “Open command window here”

In the command window type this command

keytool -export -alias androiddebugkey -keystore C:\Users\code.alumni\.android\debug.keystore | openssl sha1 -binary | openssl base64

If you see this error,”openssl not recognized”: it means either you don’t have the openssl installed or you gave the wrong location of openssl

If you have not installed openssl, download from this link as per your windows bit and unzip the file

Again run the command with the location of openssl location

You will be prompted for the  password. Debug keystore password is “android”. Type the password and enter.

You will get the debug hash ending with “=”.  This is your hash key.
